Finally, I finished writing the goals for this year!
If you remembered last year, I set some goals, I was very aggressive last year. I wanted 2 vacations, we ended up doing 4, which I am very grateful.
- Rome
- Barcelona
- Dublin
- Germany
Also, we end up going to Puerto Rico, which was my last big vacation, and in between we went to Florida. I was able to double my savings. I was able to increase my business income. I was able to spend more time with the family.
This year, I want smaller goals to make a bigger impact. I want to put my attention on health, wealth, love, and happiness.
This year, I’m concentrating on 6 goals.
- Upgrading my peer group
- Add $3,000 per month
- Vacation
- Daily exercise
- Double my savings
- Spend more time with my wife and kids
Upgrading my peer group
I want to surround myself with people that bring value to my life, and also, give me constructive criticism. This is vital. I don’t want any free riders. We don’t have time. The thing is, we all hear, we know, we tell other people “time is money”, but surprisingly, a lot of people don’t act like time is money and we end up wasting a lot of time, a lot of money as a result.
This year, I’m very intentional with who I spend time with, and that’s the main reason. Adding value is a plus. If I want to be more fit, I’m going to hang out with fitter people. Also, it’s not about only about me, but it’s also people that I can’t add value to their life. That’s a big thing right there.
Add $3,000 per month
I can add $5,000 instead of $3,000 or I could double it like last year, but the idea is that I want to spend more time with the kids, and as you know, I have about 15 months left before I separate from active duty from the Air Force. While I’m transitioning, I’m putting more time and getting involved more with the kids, with the homework. My wife has been more than amazing, but it’s time for me to step up and do more.
A Vacation
This year I added one vacation, and I’m shooting for a cruise this year. A fantastic cruise, all inclusive, that’s what I’m shooting for.
Daily exercise
When it comes to health, I do daily exercises. It doesn’t have to be running; I’m not going to record those same repetitive “I’m going to the gym”, “I’m going to the track to run” in the videos, but you get the point. I got to do the maintenance. I gained weight over the holidays like I most people do.
Double my savings
In 2015, I doubled my savings. In 2016 I’m shooting for the same, I’m going to be doubling my savings. Not to have a number there, but just in case something happen, I can’t work, I decide to sell the business, who knows, I seriously doubt it, or when we move to Florida we might end up needing the cash. It’s a good feeling that I was able to double my savings last year, and I’m going to be shooting for the same this year.
Spend more time with my wife and kids
Lastly, number 6, is to devote more time with my wife and children. This is intentional time. No electronic. I’m looking to do more outdoor events, things we haven’t done in the past. Probably that’s why I mentioned the cruise; we haven’t gone together as a family on a cruise. Now that the kids are getting more involved with my photography hobby, whatever you want to call it, and video practice. I want to take them to do some time lapses and things outdoors; my wife loves the outdoors.
That’s it. 6 easy goals. Upgrading my peer group, number one. Adding three thousand dollars to my monthly income, number two. Going on one vacation, possibly a cruise, number three. Spending more time with my wife and kids, number four. Going on one vacation, and number six, daily exercise, number six. Six goals, that’s it.
Hopefully, you have goals. I would like to hear your goals and what are you going to do next. I think that one thing that is going to do the biggest impact in my life right now is adding the extra $3,000 a month. The reason is, by adding the three thousand dollars a month, I can speed up the doubling my savings, and I can go on the vacation for sure without pulling money from my checking or my savings. We can do other things. It’s not about money, but it takes money to do the things that we love and have fun.
I think that’s what I’m going to be concentrating, the first goal. I’m going to be working. I would love to hear what are your goals and what are you going to be working first.
