Productivity Tips

In every productivity and time management workshop, I’ve taught I always get a few people asking me the same type of questions.

“Angel, I don’t have time to go to the gym. How can I find the time?”

“Angel, I want to start a business but I work a regular 9 to 5. How can I make time?”

The reason most people are “busy” and not productive is because they fill their day with things that don’t get them closer to their goals. In hindsight, what they do looks like it matters, and important but they don’t at the end of the day.

Here is an example

Right now my immediate goal is adding an extra $5,000 per month to DataViking sales before I retired from active Air Force on June 30, 2017.

However, twice per month I attend Toastmasters meetings to improve my communication and leadership skills. However, even if I like going or I enjoy going to these meeting right now is not getting me closer to my immediate goal.

Maybe you are doing things that don’t get you closer to your immediate goal. So, take a few minutes to analyze what are you currently.

Here is what I would do.

Step #1 – Analyze

The first step you need to take is to analyze what you are doing and eliminate those things that don’t get you closer to your goal to your immediate goal.

Step #2 – A good night of sleep

The second step is to make an effort to sleep the hours you need. I know that some people believe that sleeping is a waste of time, but you can’t deny that you feel great when you have a good night of sleep.

Step #3 – Automate

The third step is to automate or outsource a few tasks. I automate thing such as grocery shopping, lawn care service, car washes, haircuts, and invoicing to name a few.

Step #4 – Use Shortcuts

The fourth step is to learn the shortcuts of the software you use the most. This alone will save you a time.
