Recently I took a 34‑day vacation, flew from Las Vegas to my home town in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. I tried to prepare like most people, make sure my bills are paid; I also disconnect all my electrical equipment in the house just in case. We never know what can happen when we are away. In that subject, I also make sure the alarm company responds instead of calling me first.
One thing that we do and I haven’t asked anyone before if they do something similar is that we try to leave the refrigerator empty. Specially food that will go bad when we are away, I hate wasting food when so many people are starving. For the most part fresh fruits…
Now we are on the way back and not only we get hit with the hidden luggage costs in one of the airlines, to top that no food in a five and half hour flight. So be ready next time you fly. Now we are in Las Vegas, thanks to Erwin for picking us up.
We get home and I check the fish first because they are next to the front door and after 30 days they still alive (thanks to an automatic feeder) so I head down to the fridge and nothing. I forgot the fridge was empty, maybe because I didn’t eat anything in the flight and I was starving.
Guess what… Next stop grocery shopping, you can imagine my smile. If you know me, you know that I hate grocery shopping. Yes, I hate standing in line. It’s a necessary waste of my time, what else can I say we have to eat.
Now my wife decides to go to a Sam’s Club and after 1 hour and 14 minutes we end up with 55 items and as you know at Sam’s you can get most of the things that you need at home, but not all of them. So keep in mind that I will still have to go shopping someplace else for some minor items. The total cost $633.82.
Next time, I not only will have to plan for my vacation. I will make sure I have a good plan for when I get back.
So, on your next trip you know you have your plane tickets. You know you have possible hidden luggage costs, any food you eat during your round-trip ticket, any unexpected expenses, plus extra cash for when you return home and you have to run to the grocery store to buy the necessary day-to-day items.
Leave me a comment down below and I hope to hear from you how you plan your vacations or if you have a better idea to plan everybody’s vacation or a tip that you want to share when you plan your vacation. See you in the next post. Bye bye.
