Why you want to be in a mastermind group?
When you are in a mastermind group, you are in a situation where your knowledge and problem-solving skills are much greater. As the group works together, it develops a shared memory, which is accessible through this group. Plus…
- You will get support
- You will discover better ways to-do business
- You will have a different point of view
- You will receive encouragement
- You will gain new resources and skip sets
“A mastermind is an example of going pro where what you do is you build a structure that pulls your business forward. It keeps you from getting sidelined. It keeps you from getting distracted because you are creating a support system. You have a comfort zone of success that you are accustomed to, and as you break through those thresholds, you need mechanisms to pull you through it. So that is the help of a mastermind group.” – Todd Tresidder, a millionaire of FinancialMentor.com

How to start a mastermind group
- Make a list of 5 people who have done what you want to do
- Send a simple and short email to each person in your list
- Decide if you want to meet online or in person
- Get commitment and schedule the meeting
Online mastermind groups
In virtual mastermind groups, you should use video calls so everyone can see each other. It will help the group get focused.
You also want to have a timekeeper (I learned this from my Toastmasters meetings). It will help everyone stay on track.
Run your online meeting once per month for two hours. Have everyone responds to two questions, what word since the last meeting and what do you need help. The ideas are to give to the group first then take.
In person mastermind groups
In-person meetings can be very productive. Especially if you dedicate a part of the meeting to one person who takes a hot seat and another part of the meeting, another person will teach the group something specific around their area of experience.
Meet less frequently, like every three months and for a full day. Rent a hotel or house and stay together. One thing you can also do is to invite one guest; this will help bring a fresh purpose to each meeting.
Conclusion
It’s so easy these days with LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to reach out and meet with people. You literally just have to do it.
